5 Books To Inspire Your Inner Girl Boss
As we are nearing the end of the year, we can’t help but think about all of the things that we have accomplished as well as everything we want to get done in the new year. If you are anything like me it is SO easy to get overwhelmed by everything so you end up pushing off those goals thinking “I will get to that...eventually” and sometimes you just need a little bit (or a big bit) of a push to get up off of your booty and get it done, girl!! Here are a couple of books that will give you that push you have been looking for so you can accomplish all of those #GirlBossGoals!
The full title of this book is “You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life”, and if that doesn’t give you any indication of how amazing this book is then I don’t know what will! Jen Sincero writes in a way that really makes you feel like she is your best friend telling you to stop with the self-doubt and to shine bright. So get ready to kick that negativity to the curb and be prepared to own your unique brand of “badassery”
When I was first recommended this book I sort of brushed it off thinking “Yeah, okay...I won’t be able to relate to this woman on any level.” that woman being Sheryl Sanberg aka the COO of Facebook aka the ultimate Girl Boss aka ranked 8th on Fortune’s list of the 50 most powerful women. My initial thought was that any business advice she had to give would really only be applicable to a very niche percentage of the population but oh was I so wrong! It is packed full of life lessons and advice that can really speak to anyone. So whether you are the COO of your couch (hi, that’s me!) or trying to run your own business (hi, also me!) Sheryl Sanberg will have some life-changing advice for you.
The name Elizabeth Gilbert may sound familiar to you as she is the New York Times Best Selling Author of both Eat Pray Love and City of Girls, in this novel she explores how to be brave and follow your creative passions without the fear of failure or judgment. As mentioned previously, we can all let our own negative thoughts get in the way of putting our work out into the world and living our truth. As an aspiring author myself, Elizabeth offers amazing golden nuggets of advice that I will carry close to my heart through the creative process. Sometimes we just need a different perspective to let go of any fear and put ourselves out into the world, this book will give you just that!
There are truly too many Girl Bosses in the world to fit into one book but Grace Bonney does a pretty amazing job packing a fair amount of them into “In The Company Of Women” with over 100 stories from exceptional women you will want to just hang all of their pictures above your desk so you can be inspired by all of these movers and shakers daily. From media titans and ceramicists, hoteliers and tattoo artists, comedians and architects each story comes together to paint a beautiful picture of what it means to be a female entrepreneur.
How I write this post without including the OG #GirlBoss, Sophia Amoruso. A girl after my own heart, Sophia writes about how she went from dumpster diving for bagels to becoming the founder of Nasty Gal and CEO of Girlboss. #GIRLBOSS proves that no matter where you start, through tenacity and grit, the only way is up! So quit with the excuses and pick this book up to start paving your own crazy unique path in this world!
