What's Inside My Shopping Cart Lately
As the self proclaimed 'Queen of Lists' (I love browsing for hours and thinking a long time before I buy online), here's what has made it into my cart lately. From self-care to pyjamas, these products have made my life either a little cleaner, sparklier, cozier, or just all around better.
1. Reusable Produce Bags
I came across these on Amazon and realised that while I carry re-usable grocery bags, I often need to grab the little plastic bags when grabbing produce (a handful of beans, a bag of cherries, etc). These eco-friendly reusable bags are mesh (so they're breathable incase any water or moisture gets inside), transparent (you can see what's in them), machine washable, BPA Free, and lightweight but strong. The set I selected came with a variety of sizes and colours (15 pieces total). Although I use it for produce, you could use it for anything, makeup, laundry, snacks, etc. As the holidays approach and we're doing more grocery shopping for dinners and parties, these bags will help you to get everything you need while making a little impact :)
2. LOVEFRESH Natural Deodorant
I've had a love/hate relationship with natural deodorant. On one hand I want to be together because it doesn't contain aluminium, which plugs up your sweat glands (this is what prevents you form sweating), or other toxins which will go directly into my pores (especially after a fresh shave). However, we've broken up many times because living in humid Hong Kong I couldn't find anything that could keep me dry enough and not stinking. I do know that it takes time for your body to adjust to natural deodorant and for your good bacteria to flourish once again, leaving you with less of an odour, but I could never continue my journey long enough because of either the deodorant's smell, my smell, the texture (some are super dry and hard to get on), or just plainly- the results. I've successfully been able to reduce the harsh chemicals in my skincare, haircare, and laundry, so this was next on my list. After a lot of research and reading a lot of reviews I came across Lovefresh's Natural deodorant and ordered it on Amazon. I went for the Super Strength Cedarwood one, because like I mentioned, I live in hot and humid Hong Kong. What sold me was that it's ingredients are all natural, it's made in Canada (same!), it's not tested on animals, and it's packaging is 100% recyclable. When it arrived I was impressed by the smell (it smells clean and light- and it doesn't compete with the smell of my perfume *which is something I need to find a clean replacement for next). The texture is good, I was worried because it has extra baking soda in it to absorb moisture but it doesn't make me feel dry at all. I've worn it to the gym a lot and I don't feel wet or smell bad, yay! It really works!!! Overall, I'm really happy with it and will continue to use it for the long foreseeable future. If you're in the market to make a switch to clean deodorant, I highly recommend you try this one!
3. Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner
My parents had one of these when I was a kid. About once a month I'd see it on the counter cleaning everyone's jewelry and I thought it was the most pointless thing. Now I get it. Your jewelry picks up so much dirt and bacteria (and for me things like chip crumbs in bed late at night before I fall asleep) which can lead to skin irritations, allergies, and skin discolouration. Also, it just doesn't sparkle as nicely when it's not clean. This Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner does it so quickly and well, and it can clean many other things like glasses, electric shavers, and kitchen utensils. Since my jewelry is my most worn items (I wear my wedding rings and gold bracelet every day and it partakes in all of my activities) this purchase was well worth it.
4. Warmer Pyjamas and Slippers
Pyjamas/loungewear are the thing I wear most since I work from home and I'm a big fan of seasonally themed sleepwear. As the weather cools down I've been searching for a few new cute and warmer finds. Holiday themed ones are definitely on my list but haven't made it to my cart just yet, until I've checked through everything (I think it's a bit too early) and have made my decisions.
My most favourite shop for sleepwear is the Japanese brand, Gelato Pique (they have an international website now!). Their material is always so high in quality and comfort and their designs are adorable. Lately they've added a few minimalistic designs that I'm really into.
I also love H&M's pyjamas. Their quality for price is excellent and I especially love their holiday designs (I know many of you bought and love the Halloween ones I wear every year).
5. A New Planner
My previous planner (from Ban.Do) ended in September so I was on the search for a new one because I can't live without it. I love seeing my schedule in front of me on paper and writing things down, including to do and to buy lists on the side. My favourite planners this year come from Kikki K and Erin Condren.
If you want a no-fuss, clean and simple planner with a nice cover, Kikki K is perfect for you.
Erin Condren's are stylish, super customizable (in every way- cover, binding, page layout), and she has a bunch of stickers, bookmarks and other tools to make your planner prettier on the inside.
