7 Trends to Wear This Fall
As we are deep into fall (this article is a little late) and about to transition into Winter, here's some trends inspired by the runway collections around the world for this season.
Since I live in Hong Kong and it doesn't get colder than about 10°C, these will be my fall and winter outfit inspirations. However, if you're living somewhere colder; add some layers, tights, and/or a coat, plus accessories (hat, scarf, gloves) to make these items more wearable and bearable.
1. Dark Romance
Don't retire your florals for fall/winter, but choose the darker/longer pieces. As seen at the Paco Rabanne, Marc Jacobs, and Prada F/W 2019 runway shows, moody florals on dresses, tops, and skirts are a print to reach for.

2. Leather
Sleek, sophisticated, and sexy. Incorporate at least one (faux) leather item in your outfit to effortlessly look trendy this fall/winter. Simply throw on a classic leather jacket, or opt for a combo of leather pants, skirts, shirts, or hats. For inspo, check out these iconic leather looks from Alexander McQueen at NYFW 2019.

3. Suits
Suits have been in for a while and continue to stay (proving that investing in them is a good idea, and possibly validating my want to buy so many colours and styles). Tailored suits in various shapes and colours were seen in the Verasace, Proenza Schouler, Givenchy, Balenciaga, and many more runway shows. Popular accessories to finish off the look are belts, scarves, and oversized clutches.

4. Spots
Whether it's animal prints, polkadots, spots, a logo, or even blotted smears get something repetitive and circular on your radar now!

5. Preppy
Moving on from the previous sporty/athleisure trend, preppy is the new relaxed but put together look to go for. There's so many ways to wear this classic look for fall (and with a coat added, into winter). Sweater vests, trousers, blouses, blazers, polos, and lots of checks and plaid prints- just to name a few ideas. Thom Brown's collection was one of my favourites this season and he did preppy right. As did Salvatore Ferragamo, Victoria Beckham, and Celine.

6. Midi Length Skirts
This season saw a lot of longer, well-tailored midi skirts paired with blazers, trench coats, and a pointed shoe to elongate the legs. This combination creates a very elegant, refined look with a beautiful silhouette. I noticed that most of Celine's collection this season included outfits with midi skirts or culottes, so I added a few to my wardrobe.

7. Knits
Knits are always on trend for the colder months, but this time, the more the better! Layer on different textures and colours to be warm and trendy. Wear one piece, or multiple head to toe for the ultimate coze.
