The Biggest Trends in Hair for 2020

The Biggest Trends in Hair for 2020

Feeling bold and ready to enter the new decade with a new look (after all, it is the roaring 20's once again!), I decided to finally go a bit darker (after changing my cut in Korea at the end of the year). Most people say it's more of a dark blonde, but it's the darkest I've ever been and it gave me a fresh start to the year. Before my big change (ok, it wasn't that big), I scoured the internet (mostly instagram) for inspo and I wanted to share some of my favourite trending looks incase you're feeling the need to make a chop.

1. Short Bangs

Sitting just above the eyebrows, and slightly piece-y (yay my greasy bangs kind of work here!), these bangs look super cute, fun, and youthful. They even look great to the side, a la Kendall Jenner.

2. Curls

Adding some curves to your hair is a great way to change it up without cutting or colouring it. If you don't have them naturally and don't want to curl your hair often, you can opt for a perm. There's a variety of tightness of curls you can go for from ringlets to looser 'c-curls' (very popular in Korea right now). Perms make your hair look always styled and ready, but be aware that they can cause some damage, so it's best to go to a professional who can check the health of your hair first before proceeding with the proper method.

3. A-Line

When Kaia Gerber posted this picture of her new haircut it took my breath away. It looks effortlessly chic, low maintenance, and slightly androgynous. A-line means your hair is cut at an angle, being shorter in the back and longer at the front. It works well with many lengths of hair, but Kaia's length is the shortest she's ever had, and it is perfection.

4. Lots of Layers With Long Wispy Bangs

One may call this the 'modern mullet' but I'm calling it 'a lot of layers with long wispy bangs', because it's the current style I'm rocking. There's different takes on it with some having shorter layers than others, but it's all about a well-framed front and textured body.

5. Crystals

If you want something a less permanent and drastic but still on trend, try hair crystals. Coming straight off the Spring 2020 runway (and Safiya Nygaard's wedding hair), this style looks romantic, mysterious, and just plain gorgeous. You can get them glued in (more permanent) or opt for a crystal hair piece(s).

Which style do you like best/would you try?

Have a bold & beautiful 2020!
